Why Vets Use Our Products For Their Own Dogs
Being wholly made in the USA certainly helps Vets Preferred separate ourselves from most other brands but it doesn’t just end there. All veterinarians will tell you that it’s easy to get caught up in the marketing machines created by giant corporations that really don’t specialize in Pet Health. One of the main reasons why we are so highly regarded (and quite frankly, the reasoning behind our name) is because veterinarians know that Vets Preferred produces ALL of our products under very specific guidelines in order to maintain the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certification, a recognition designed by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a system for ensuring that all of its certified products are consistently produced and controlled according to very exacting standards of quality. It is also designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product. Although it can be challenging for most other brands to comply with, we feel that these strict regulations allows us to give our customers the piece of mind they deserve when it comes to their dogs.
GMP covers all aspects of production from the starting materials, premises, and equipment to the training and personal hygiene of staff. Detailed, written procedures are essential for each process that could affect the quality of the finished product. In addition, there must be systems to provide documented proof that correct procedures are consistently followed at each step in the manufacturing process - every time a product is made.
GMP regulations, through the FDA, have the force of law, requiring that it’s manufacturers, processors, and packagers of drugs, medical devices, certain foods take proactive steps to ensure that their products are safe, pure, and effective. GMP regulations require a quality approach to manufacturing, enabling companies to minimize or eliminate instances of contamination, mix-ups, and errors. This in turn, protects the consumer from purchasing a product that is not effective as it claims or even dangerous. Failure of firms to comply with GMP regulations can result in very serious consequences including recall, seizure, fines, and jail time.
